Hello! My name is Maria Masalitina, and I'm an electrologist based in Belgrade. This article probably should have started with a story about my profession — but in reality, everything began much earlier, with my own personal problem.
A Problem I Couldn't Solve
From my teenage years, I was very bothered by hair on my upper lip and between my eyebrows. My hair was also prone to ingrowth. I tried everything: tweezers, depilatory creams, wax.
But every time I got the same result — irritation, small inflammations, and ingrown hairs. I literally had to choose: either walk around with visible upper-lip hair, or spend several days hiding blemishes after removal — and then have the hair back again anyway.

A Chance Discovery
And one day I completely accidentally found out about electrolysis — I saw a story on Instagram.
When someone told me there was a method that could remove hair permanently, I didn't believe it at first. Because for some reason everyone around me was only talking about laser.
And that was the first time I thought: why do so few people actually know about electrolysis?
Why Everyone Talks About Laser
In my view, there are several reasons.
First, laser hair removal is much more heavily advertised. We constantly see ads on social media, in shopping malls and beauty salons. There is significantly less information about electrolysis.
Second, laser seems like a simpler and faster method. A large area can be treated in a short time, which attracts many people.
Electrolysis, on the other hand, is meticulous work. Each hair is removed individually. The procedure requires time, patience, and a highly qualified specialist. After the session, the skin also needs proper home care.
But that is precisely why electrolysis is considered the only method of permanent hair removal. This is not a promise to "reduce growth" or "make hair thinner." This is a path to 100% permanent results.
My Personal Experience: Challenges and Progress
When I started my own electrolysis course, I also faced difficulties.
After the first session, I had an unpleasant skin reaction — small inflammations (folliculitis). The skin first needed to be kept dry, then well moisturised. Honestly, it didn't look very aesthetic, especially on the face.

2021. My skin reaction after the first session — folliculitis. It's temporary and clears up with proper care.
But there was one huge advantage: the hair on my upper lip was genuinely starting to stop growing.
I had to mentally prepare for each subsequent visit, because for me this area is very sensitive and healing was harder than for some other people. And that's completely normal — we're all different, and everyone has their own skin and recovery patterns.
Results After 4 Years
My personal journey took several years — from 2021 to 2025. I'm currently pregnant and temporarily not doing treatments on myself, but I can say with full confidence: hair on my upper lip and between my eyebrows no longer grows.
I even reshaped my eyebrows using electrolysis. Before that I already had my eyebrows tattooed — this makes it much easier to maintain symmetry, since during the procedure the specialist stretches the skin, and having a pre-defined shape helps achieve a perfect result.

Why I Became an Electrologist
It was probably my own experience that led me to become an electrologist — because the hair really did stop growing!
I understand very well the feelings of women who are embarrassed by unwanted hair, afraid of irritation after hair removal treatments, or who have already tried many methods but never achieved the result they were hoping for.
I used to be exactly the same.
And now it's a real joy for me to see my clients walk this path and one day realise: new hairs are simply no longer appearing.
2026. Now I'm an electrologist with years of experience, helping people become happier every day.
